Abstract
Purpose : This study was conducted to grasp the level of Korean opticians¡¯ job stress and identify the difference of job stress according to the influence which psychological well-being and burnout have.

Methods : This study used 10 items for the job stress evaluation, 18 items of 3 sub-factors (emotional exhaustion, decline of self-accomplishment and depersonalization) for burnout scale, and 21 items for evaluation of 3 sub-factors(individual growth, self-acceptance, and positive relation) for psychological well-being of 343 Korean opticians collected from April to May, 2018.

Results : The subjects consisted of 218 employers (63.6%) and 125 employees (36.4%). Confidence level of questionnaire items and sub-factors, job stress, burnout, and psychological well-being showed 0.84, 0.96 and 0.86, respectively. In case of average value by sub-factor, individual growth showed the highest score of 3.11 and decline of self-accomplishment showed the lowest score of 2.51. As continuous length of service at optical shops was lengthened, job stress was increased, and job stress has a correlation with all variables except for the self-acceptance of psychological self-wellbeing. As the stress level of opticians¡¯job was increased, emotional exhaustion, decline of self-accomplishment, individual growth, and positive relation were significantly decreased, and depersonalization and self-acceptance were significantly increased.

Conclusions : Job stress decreases the self-accomplishment of opticians, and increases negative personal relation and dissatisfaction with self. This can lead to dissatisfaction with a job as an optician. Accordingly, it is thought that a study on a job stress coping method appropriate for the job characteristics of opticians is required.
